Ray of Light

Ray Bernstein (1958-2024). Ray is known locally for his “Mother Earth’s Garden”. He was a grower extraordinaire and was fascinated by unusual varieties of vegetables. His legacy continues as he also passed on seeds from his garden. I have several varieties growing in my garden today.

This is one of his favorite quotes from The Essene Gospel of Peace: “The Law is living word of living God to living prophets for living men. In everything that is life is the law written. You find it in the grass, in the tree, in the river, in the mountain, in the birds of heaven in the fishes of the sea, but seek it chiefly in yourselves.”

  1. a wonderful testament to a kind gentleman who was always generous and helpful when you visited his garden outside of AOK

    1. Being known to be kind, gentle, generous, and helpful sums up a life well lived. In this picture Ray is driving in his Mustang convertible with eyes fixed on his journey with the wind blowing his hair, it seems a fitting metaphor for the journey of his soul free from the confines of this world.
